Are you thinking about storing your stuff for as long as possible? Well, you are not alone, but someone has already done research on it, so let’s dive into its depth right now.
Here’s everything you need to know about how you can store cannabis so that when you are back from your vacation, your stuff is still fresh.
First things first, let’s start with the basics.
Taking pickles as an example, we realize that there are many things that should be considered when preserving them. The same thing goes with the storage of cannabis, just with a little twist.
I’ll mention the key elements you need to review while preserving cannabis. Let’s begin!
Humidity
Most people suggest a humidity range of 55% to 65%, however, I haven’t been able to verify how legit those claims are. But when I see all researchers publishing content around the same range, it is best to consider it as the optimal range of humidity.
Anything lesser than this range seems to dry up the weed and something higher would attract breeding. And higher humidity would turn into breeding grounds for molds and mildews. I’m sure we all don’t want that to happen.
Keeping your stuff in the proper humidity doesn’t only help in preserving for longer, but also keeps it fresh with the same amount of cannabinoid
Air Exposure
You should always avoid cannabis exposure to air for a long. As a matter of fact, it loses some of its potency when kept in prolonged exposure to oxygen. Oxygen in the air starts degrading the components of cannabis that cause high as a result, it loses its potency. This is why it is good to keep it in an airtight container.
For obvious reasons, you should not let your stuff kept open for a while.
Temperature
The suggested temperature for keeping and preserving cannabis is between 55 degrees F to 75 degrees F. More or less than the suggested range would make your weed unfavorable for consumption. At least not for what you brought it.
An ideal room temperature is around 68 F, so even if you keep it just at your room temperature, it is good to go. No special arrangements need to be made to maintain a specific temperature just to keep the cannabis preserved.
Light Exposure
You must always avoid your flower from being exposed to direct sunlight. Direct sunlight contains UV rays which degrade the terpenes and cannabinoids present in the flower. Cannabis also contains photolytic nutrients which get lost on exposure to direct light. This is why it is always best to keep your bud away from direct light.
Place of storage
If you are considering a jar to preserve the bud, here are the main things, you will need to make sure of:
- If the container is made of glass or is transparent, either cover it with a piece of cloth to avoid light exposure or keep the jar in a place where there is no or very less light.
- Check whether the container is airtight or not. A small leakage will of air can also lead to the degradation of bud.
- If you are not sure about how to preserve your flower, just buy a dark-colored airtight jar from the market and that’s it.
So whenever you think of keeping your weed for a longer duration, do not forget these things. I’m sure you won’t lose out on the high you always want.
